Dog shows in the Netherlands by Kristy Leest

We have 3 kinds of shows in the Netherlands, open shows, National and International dog shows. On the opens shows you can’t win a championship but we see them as good training for your dog. On the National shows you can only win the CAC but not the CACIB and at the International shows you can win the CAC and the CACIB (CAC is for the national championship and the CACIB is for the international championship)

In the Netherlands you need 4 CAC to become Dutch Champion or 3 CAC and 4 res.CAC, (4 res.CAC counts for 1 full CAC). And your dog needs to be 27 months old to get the Dutch title and the CAC have to be given by 2 different judges. If the dog has all the 4 CAC before 27 months he still needs a res.CAC after 27 months to become champion.

Is the best male or the best female already a Dutch champion then the CAC will be given to the res. Male or female but this will be done at the office from the Dutch Kennel club.

We also have 2 shows where you can win 2 CAC at once, which is the Amsterdam show, where you also can win the Winner title, the Youth winner title (and you will qualify for Crufts) and the Breed National.

If the best male or the best female is already a champion the 2 CAC will be past on to the res. male or female.

For the International Championship you need 4 CACIB in 3 different countries and under 3 different judges. From the 4 CACIB you need one in the country where the dog is registered or in the country where the breed is from, so in this case is it Mexico.

  We also give qualifications to every dog that is entered in a dog show,

M = Matig = Medium
G = Goed = Good
ZG = Zeer Goed = Very good
U = Uitmuntend = Excellent
You will get these qualifications in all the classes, we have

Puppy class – 6 to 9 months, do not compete for the CAC CACIB
Youth class – 9 to 18 months, do compete for the CAC but not for the CACIB
Intermediate class – 15 to 24 months, and do compete for the CAC CACIB
Open class – from 15 months, do compete for the CAC CACIB
Working class – from 15 months with a working certificate,
Champion class – from 15 months with a national title, do compete for the CAC CACIB
Veteran class - from 8 years do compete for the CAC but not for the CACIB
Breeder’s class - have to be owned by the breeder; do compete for the CAC CACIB

Not all the shows will have these classes available.

I hope I explained it to you so I will see you soon at the dog show in the Netherlands!!
